This book is a fantasy story about a young girl who lives
with her father, a bookbinder. After a visit from a mysterious man, she learns
that her father has the ability to ‘read’ books and bring them to life. Shortly
after, a chance mistake from her father’s past brings storybook villains to
their door as they try to hunt the pair down to prevent them from returning
them back into the book. In order to return everything back to its rightful
place, the young girl Meggie must search for the original author of the book
before it is too late.
This novel is aimed at young adults and is a fast-paced,
suspenseful story with a detailed writing style. It is the first book in the
Inkworld Trilogy and has also been adapted into a film.
